66 development projects implemented in W. Afghanistan

KABUL, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Sixty-six development and maintenance projects have been constructed and put into operation in western Afghanistan's Farah province, state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.

The projects, which cost more than 43 million U.S. dollars, have been launched with financial support from domestic and partner organizations, the report said.

The projects, including the construction of education centers, health centers, roads, and water canals, have created about 3,000 jobs for the locals and improved their living conditions, the report said.

The Afghan interim government has planned to launch more agriculture and infrastructure projects throughout the poverty-stricken country, focusing on alleviating economic hardships and creating jobs.
