118 Afghan refugee families return home in single day

KABUL, March 13 (Xinhua) -- As the return of Afghan refugees continues from Pakistan and Iran, a total of 118 families returned to their homeland Afghanistan from the neighboring countries in a single day on Wednesday, reported the state-run Bakhtar news agency on Thursday.

Without hinting at the total number of returnees, the state-owned media outlet added that all the returnees had received necessary assistance at the border crossing points before leaving for their provinces.

Since the decision of Pakistan and Iran to deport foreign nationals living illegally on their soil, hundreds of Afghans return to their homeland every day.

More than 1.2 million Afghan refugees have reportedly returned to their homeland from Pakistan and Iran over the past year, while some 6 million Afghan refugees with the majority of them living in the neighboring countries are yet to return.
