KABUL, March 8 (Xinhua) -- A water supply project has been completed and implemented in north Afghanistan's Kunduz province, according to a statement released by the provincial government office Saturday.
The network, which cost 145,000 U.S. dollars, was completed within one year and could provide clean water to 400 families in the Dasht-e-Archi district of this province, the statement added.
It said the project would also assist farmers in irrigating hundreds of acres of land in the area.
Afghanistan has been suffering from droughts for years, and the residents of big cities, including the capital city of Kabul, have faced extreme drinking water shortages over the past several years.
