QALAT, Afghanistan, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Seven commuters were killed and three others sustained injuries due to a deadly road accident in southern Afghanistan's Zabul province on Thursday, provincial police spokesman Zabihullah Jawhar said.

The accident took place outside the provincial capital Qalat when a car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving seven commuters including three children and four women dead on the spot, and injuring three others, the official said.

Without providing more details, the official said an investigation had been initiated into the accident.
